Special Elections in Missouri
There are four special elections coming up in Missouri. On March 19th, voters in the 150th House District will revote on the November election candidates due to some voters not receiving accurate information. Incumbent Kent Hampton and challenger Tom Todd are on the ballot. Kent Hampton is pro-life and endorsed by Missouri Right to Life State Political Action Committee. Tom Todd has a mixed position from a previous voting record and did not return a survey.

On April 2nd: House District 76, the candidates in this race have not totally been determined, and we are in the process of obtaining information on all candidates.

House District 157, this is an open seat due to appointments. The Republican candidate is Mike Moon; the Democrat candidate is Charles Dake. Both candidates are pro-life and endorsed by Missouri Right to Life State Political Action Committee.

On June 4th: 8th Congressional seat, this is an open seat due to the retirement of Jo Ann Emerson. The Republican candidate is state Rep. Jason Smith. He is pro-life and endorsed by Missouri Right to Life Federal Political Action Committee. The Democrat is state Rep. Steve Hodges. He has voted pro-life generally but voted to uphold the governor's veto of the religious liberties bill from the 2012 session.

Save the Date: 40th Anniversary Statewide Meeting
On this 40th Anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision, Missouri Right to Life will host a special meeting on June 15, 2013, in Jefferson City. Our featured speaker will be Carol Tobias, president of the National Right to Life Committee. All are welcome. Make your plans now to attend.

Legislative Report
ACTION ALERT ONE - Priority Pro-Life Legislation: Please call your legislators and ask them to pass SB 175 & HB 400 to ban web-cam abortions in Missouri.

ACTION ALERT TWO -Regarding Economic Development and Appropriation Funding:
We are following a multitude of economic development bills, watching for language that would put innocent human lives at risk due to open-ended life sciences research that would include human cloning and research on human embryos.  Many of these bills as well as appropriation bills for economic development are beginning to move. Please call your legislators to ask that Missouri Right to Life Pro-Life Protections be placed on these bills.

For legislator ID and contact information go to the MRL website, www.missourilife.org and key in 9 digit zip on our home page in the lower right sidebar area.

We Mourn the Death of C. Everett Koop
Last week we learned of the death of former Surgeon General C. Everett Koop at the age of 96. In an era when pro-abortionists tried to declare that the abortion issue was "settled law," Dr. Koop provided a voice for the voiceless. National Right to Life is deeply saddened by his death.
