Missouri Legislature Overrides Vetoes on Pro-life Legislation

Due to Missouri Right to Life's years of education, lobbying and political action to elect pro-life legislators, we went into the override effort pretty confident that we had the votes to override the Governor's veto on pro-life laws and amendments. But, we must always be ready to support our pro-life legislators in the effort of protecting life.

That's what the Show Me Life rally was all about.

The program speakers did an excellent job of giving a human face to the truths that all pro-lifers know; that abortion kills a baby, that abortion hurts women and that every life is sacred and worthy of protection.

Susan Jaramillo spoke eloquently and emotionally about the devastation that past abortions brought into her life. Susan, Rebecca Kiessling and Angela Grogg spoke of the value of human life, even those conceived in the violent act of rape. Susan and Rebecca were both conceived during a rape of their mothers. Angela's daughter, Pyper was raped and inspite of the pain and difficulty of that experience, gave life to her beautiful son, Noah who was also on stage.

During debate, our pro-life legislators gave a rational, but passionate and sometimes emotional, defense of the 72 hour reflection period bill.

We are grateful to our pro-life legislators for their strength and commitment in passing these life-saving bills and overriding the governor's veto. Their heroic efforts will save lives.  What better legacy can you leave.
