Legislative Update February 9, 2018

Budget Work Continues:
Budget work continues in the House and Senate. Consideration of the increase in Alternatives to Abortion funding ($7,096,917) continues to be a topic of discussion. We will keep you updated as the Alternatives to Abortion funding moves through the budget process.

Committee Hearings this week in the House and Senate included:
The House Rules Committee on Administrative Oversight met Monday, February 5 and voted Do Pass to move HCS HB 1288 (sponsored by Rep. Kevin Engler), 1377 (Champion for Children Tax Credit - Sponsored by Rep. Sara Walsh), and 2050 (Champion for Children Tax Credit - Sponsored by Rep. Kevin Austin) to the House floor for debate.

The Senate Economic Development Committee met Tuesday, February 6 and voted Do Pass to move SCS SB 632 (sponsored by Senator Bob Dixon) to the Senate floor for debate.

Committee Hearings Scheduled for Feb 12 - Feb 16:
The House Fiscal Review Committee will be reviewing bills, including pro-life bills, before final debate and passage by the full House.

The House Children and Families Committee has scheduled an executive session for Tuesday, February 13 on HB 1266 (sponsored by Rep. Donna Lichtenegger), the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act to prevent abortions on babies that feel pain during an abortion.
