Federal Judge Sachs Denies Request by MO Attorney General to Allow
Ban on Abortion at 20 Weeks, When Babies Feel Pain, to Go Into Effect

The following statement may be attributed to Susan Klein, Executive Director of Missouri Right to Life:

On Wednesday, Judge Howard Sachs denied a request by the Missouri Attorney General to allow a ban on abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy to go into effect while the state waits for the Appellate Court to hear the appeal to Judge Sachs August 27 ruling to stop portions of HB 126. We are disappointed but not surprised that Judge Sachs is continuing his long history of ruling for abortion.

By 20 weeks after fertilization, all the physical structures necessary to experience pain have developed. Unborn children, tiny little boys and girls at 20 weeks after fertilization, react to painful stimuli and the abortion methods used on these babies are painful. Fifteen other states have similar common sense protective laws in place for these tiny babies. Judge Sachs ignored these other common sense laws.

Missouri Right to Life stands with the overwhelmingly pro-life legislature and our statewide, pro-life officials. Approximately 115 of 163 house members and 24 of 34 Senators are pro-life. 5 of 6 statewide offices are held by pro-life officials. The people of Missouri, through the election process have made their opinions on the sanctity of life very clear.

“Missourians Stand for the Unborn” and we look forward to our Missouri Attorney General’s office to continue his fight to enforce the pro-life common sense provisions of HB 126 that are being stopped by the liberal pro-abortion courts.
