The Governor issued a Writ of Election to fill the vacancy in the office of Missouri House, District 158. This vacancy was created by the resignation of State Representative Nathan Cooper. Candidates nominated by the political parties or by petition must file their declaration of candidacy with the Secretary of State by 5:00 p.m. on November 15, 2007, for the special election to be held on Tuesday, February 5, 2008.

Candidates nominated by the political parties or by petition must file their declaration of candidacy with the Secretary of State by 5:00 p.m. on November 15, 2007, for the special election to be held on Tuesday, February 5, 2008.
2008 Presidential Preference Primary in Missouri – February 5, 2008
A statewide presidential preference primary shall be held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in February of each presidential election year RSMo 115.755. The primary will be held on Tuesday, February 5, 2008. Candidates for the presidential primary from Missouri's "established political parties" begin filing at 8 a.m. on October 23, 2007. Filing ends at 5 p.m. on November 20, 2007. The three established parties in Missouri are: Democratic, Republican, Libertarian.
August 5, 2008 State Primary Election Information
Missouri’s state primary elections are held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in August of even numbered years. Since Missouri has open primaries, every eligible registered voter may select the party ballot of their choice.
However, primary voters may select only one party’s ballot. Voters who do not wish to give a political party preference may request an issues only ballot, if one is available in that particular jurisdiction.
The filing period for candidates for the August 5, 2008 state primary election is from February 26 to March 25, 2008.
November 4, 2008 State General Election Information
The filing period for candidates for the November 4, 2008 state general election is from July 15, 2008 to August 19, 2008.
