Congressional Candidates Debate Abortion Next Week

Next Thursday, June 5 Rep. Bob Onder (R. – Lake Saint Louis) and Sen. Ken Jacob (D. Columbia) will meet in Colubmia, MO at the University of Missouri on June 5 to debate the issue of abortion. Both candidates are running to represent Missouri’s 9th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives. The debate will largely focus on this year’s HB 1831, sponsored by Onder, which sought to criminalize coerced abortions in Missouri:

Though HB 1831 passed through the House, it failed to pass in the Senate before the end of session this month, prompting Republican gubernatorial candidate Sarah Steelman to urge Gov. Blunt to call a special session later this year in order to get it passed.

The above video is from Onder and Jacob’s joint press conference in Columbia last Thursday. Visit Jason Rosenbaum’s You Tube channel for more videos concerning Missouri politics. Rosenbaum writes for the Columbia Daily Tribune.
